Sony Sugar eye Bandari scalp

Sony Sugar have a chance to climb to fifth spot if they overcome Bandari on Saturday in a Sportpesa Premier League tie at the Awendo Green Stadium.

The sugar millers were held to a 2-2 draw last weekend by Muhoroni Youth in a stormy clash that saw the Sugarcane merchants protest bitterly about the manner in which they were treated by Muhoroni fans.

Subsequently, they have written a protest letter to Kenya Premier League (KPL), threatening not to honour future matches at the Muhoroni venue.

Coach Salim Babu is hoping his new signing and former Kakamega Homeboyz striker Jeremiah Wanjala will combine well with Victor Ademba, Amos Asembeka, Daniel Ochieng, Valen Mahero and Justin Monda for the desired results.

Wanjala, who will be looking for his maiden goal for Sony since he signed for the club in June, will be the man to watch following his brilliant display with his former club in the first leg that caught the eyes of Sony scouts.

Bandari lie tenth with 18 points as acting coach Kennedy Odhiambo tries to lift the side.

The dockers were also busy in the June transfer season after losing two of their key players to their former club AFC Leopards, namely Edwin Wafula and Bernard Mangoli.

They shopped nationwide for players drawn from coast-based clubs like Uweza Soccer Academy, Mwatate United, Kilifi All Stars, Modern Coast and Kibera Black Stars.

Regular starters led by Shaban Kenga, George Abege, David Kingatua, Antony Kimani, Felly Mulumba and former Harambee Stars Keeper Wilson Obungu will lead the hunt for points.
